The Age Weekend Review:

LINDEN INNOVATORS 2
Karri Cameron's installation of various sculptural matter is a quiet but clear standout amid the latest chapter of Linden's Innovators series. Running alongside a fantastic installation of paper sculptures mimicking litter by Carly Fischer, and a domestically themed group show curated by Tai Snaith and featuring Beci Orpin, Siri Hayes, Dell Stewart and others, her works invoke ideas of foraging, geology, abstraction and the ready-made in equal measure. Her installation, Create Your Own Ruin, consists of assemblages of found materials and objects (and casts made from found objects) foraged on journeys around Northcote, Reservoir and Coburg. Rearranged and recontextualised, these usually nondescript objects and echoes come to resemble ruins, fossils and otherwise important finds. It speaks volumes about the aesthetics and manner by which we prescribe value.
Tues-Fri, 1pm-5pm, Sat and Sun, 11am-5pm, until August 11, Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, 26 Acland Street, St Kilda, 9534 0099, lindenarts.org
